A few days ago I had an article on Kamala’s Money Machine. And the massive machine keeps on corruptly churning up cash while the media applauds the size of the checks rather than calling out the corruption.
Here’s another adoring article about the size of the checks.
“Former president Barack Obama headlined his first solo fundraiser for Kamala Harris in Los Angeles on Friday night, bringing in $4 million for her campaign as he framed the election as a struggle against radical forces in America that want to take the country backward.”
Obama described Harris’s campaign as an effort to guard against those destructive forces and usher in a future that would create an economy “where everybody has enough” and Americans don’t see the changes occurring in society as a zero-sum game where “if somebody gains, somebody must lose.”
Where was this progressive event held?
The private event Friday night was held at the Los Angeles home of James Costos, who served as the U.S. ambassador to Spain and Andorra under Obama, and his partner, Michael S. Smith, who was White House decorator when Obama was president.
Costos was a Hollywood exec who bought the ambassadorship to Spain from Obama for half a million.
James Costos, ambassador to Spain and Andorra. Costos raised over $500,000 for President Obama in 2012. Prior to his appointment, he was Vice President at the television company HBO. Currently Costos is a Senior Managing Director at Dentons, an international law practice.
This proved to be a problem during the NSA scandal when Mr. HBO was suddenly being summoned to explain NSA eavesdropping and was completely out of his depth.
Obama’a decision to sell the ambassadorship of a NATO country undermined national security and our relationship with a European country. It was shameless corruption that Obama and Kamala are doubling down on. And that the media is carefully remaining silent on while praising the size of the checks.
Which ambassadorship is Mr. Costos buying this time? Does he get to pick them from a map?
Someone might ask Kamala if she were in the business of doing interviews and the media were in the business of asking her questions.

When I was a Foreign Service Officer (1968-97) there was always a discussion among colleagues about whether ambassadors should be career FSOs or should be personal friends of the president, in which case it was assumed they could pick up the phone and call the White House. The general belief was that there were more career FSOs serving as ambassadors under Republican presidents as against Democrats. I’ve been retired 28 years, and that might have changed completely.
I served under both career and “paid for” ambassadors. The ‘paid for’ ambassadors in my experience generally left the operation of the embassy to the career officers while they hobnobbed with the beautiful people in the host country. The career ambassadors were more involved in the day-to-day operation of the embassy. Since the running of an embassy is a demanding task, I felt we were generally better off if the Deputy Chief of Mission did the day-to-day management and the ambassador focussed on communication with high government officials and entertaining. Full disclosure: I was DCM in several countries, so I can’t say I’m entirely unbiased.
Australia also runs a mix of career FSO and appointed from outside Ambassadors, but the outside appointments tend to be former politicians, usually retired Cabinet Ministers, who have a good idea of the way the current Govt works, can indeed pick up the phone and ring the PM, and often times were involved in foreign policy decisions while they were in Cabinet.
The US habit of people essentially buying an ambassadorship pretty much horrifies everybody else.
“Andorra.” I lost a spelling bee because of that word. I spelled it with one “R” because I’d never heard that word before. My teacher tricked me because he knew I was the best in the class. We’d never once discussed that place. Tricky bastard but I still miss him.
OK. The fix is in. I cant come up with another country to move to.

Maybe when people are starving and seeing illegals in their brand new cars, swishing about to posh restaurants, will the majority mobilise. Certainly in uk the past election has proved people learn nothing from the past.
