The Atlantic has endorsed Kamala on the basis that “she believes in democracy”.
Democracy, like science, is not a belief, it’s a practice. Believing in democracy as an ideal is all well and good, but like the Baptist bootlegger, utterly meaningless if you don’t practice it.
Biden ran for reelection on his belief in democracy. The DNC rigged the primaries to eliminate any actual competition. Then when a small group of elite donors decided to remove Biden, the guy who won 14 million primary votes, was out on his ear and replaced by Kamala who had zero actual votes.
Kamala and the Democrats are currently promising to abolish the Electoral College, rig the Supreme Court and nationalize elections so that are the only ones able to win an election.
That’s what ‘believing in democracy’ gets you.
Believing in democracy is a fanatical cult that destroys the thing it claims to believe in, in order to save it from its political opponents.
The Obama-Biden and Biden-Harris era was marked by the weaponization of the DOJ, political censorship of opponents and descriptions of their opponents as threats to democracy.
Whether or not the Democrats believe in democracy, they’re certainly terrible at practicing it.
Of course, Democrats do not believe in democracy as self-government by the people. They identify “the Democracy” with the Party.
The DNC did not “rig” the primaries. Political parties in this country are not part of the government, and intra-party elections are not equivalent to general elections. As you well know. You liar. And political parties in this country have long favored incumbent presidents, as the GOP did with Trump in 2020. As you well know. Liar.
Now, a serious journalist would at least mentioned the fact that Donald Trump was the first living, sitting president in the history of this country who did not willingly participate in the peaceful transfer of power. As you well know. Coward.
I notice you end almost every sentence with a personal slur aimed at the author. It has been the rule of the left always to accuse their opponent with falsehoods that they themselves are guilty of. Look within yourself Mickey, your guilt is showing.
Hmm, this one obviously stung you. I was going to say something reasonable, like everyone, including an entire party , has a right to be a complete hypocrite, as you seem to acknowledge, but I think instead I will go low-class and say–go lick a dog’s arse until it bleeds.. Idiot.
All of the Dems rhetoric about “democracy” is mostly ignorant hot air, not to be taken seriously. If pressed, they wouldn’t even be able to define it, much less understand its relationship to the US Constitution. And frankly, I suspect that many, if not most Republican legislators are just as guilty. I believe it’s one of the basic reasons this country is so effed up.
And that leaves me with nothing but that old adage: Democracy is two wolves and a chicken discussing what’s for dinner.
As Ben Franklin said, a Republic is better than a Democracy.

It is amusing and yet deeply troubling every time the Left employs the term, Democracy.
What do they mean by that appellation?
What they do not mean is republic.
Yet compound Constitutional republican governance is the very basis upon which our, well, republic is based. In fact, all fifty-one of them? Yes, there is the United States of America, the sovereign nation-state, and also fifty additional republics that are the states.
Why does the Left want to change that?
To have monopoly on power, and to rule, that’s why.
The Left understands that a simple Democratic majority is much easier to control and malleable than a republican structure with checks and balances.
Let us keep in mind the sagacious words of Dr. Franklin: “A democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.”
So, when we hear ‘Democracy,’ let us keep in mind that what the Left really means is Socialist People’s Democracy.

The Left owns our institutions, but we still own ourselves

It is general knowledge that virtually all the major American institutions have been taken over by The Left. It is similarly widely known that most European countries are governed by left-leaning elites and left-leaning institutions. The same goes for Canada and Australia. It is disturbing to find out that even many of Israel’s institutions are now controlled by “progressives.”
So, why is it that leftists consistently take control of government and institutions in a free society, even when the majority of the people in that free society could be considered center-right? What seems a puzzler, a conundrum, really isn’t. It is simply because leftists want power more than conservatives do and are therefore willing to do more to obtain it. Some of these power-obsessed leftists falsely believe they are intellectually and morally superior to everybody else and are therefore entitled to power and control, and to some it is an aphrodisiac. Either way, it is not good for…everybody else.
