I wrote recently about the Democrat Party’s amusing, media-coordinated effort to brand itself as the Party of 21st century masculinity. Salon.com’s contribution to that narrative was an opinion piece titled, “Joyful Warrior Tim Walz and the Last Days of Patriarchy,” by Christopher Cotton, an Ohio high school English teacher for 22 years. It presents a good opportunity to dissect the mind of the male feminist.
The thrust of the Salon article is that, as Cotton puts it, “Boys and men are behaving like a conquered people,” by which he means that the much-discussed “boy crisis” or “crisis of masculinity” in this country stems in large part from males having absorbed the cultural message that girls and women are proving themselves superior – in the classroom, in the business world, and in the political arena. “Boys and men tend toward competitiveness and winner/loser thinking,” he writes, “and they see a war that is going poorly, and may already have been lost. That perception is indeed a crisis.” The resulting “psychic wounds are profound,” resulting in “underachievement, underemployment, alcoholism, drug addiction, despair, suicide.”
Cotton states in the article that he doesn’t personally believe that girls are smarter than boys or superior to them, but this is the perception that boys and men have adopted, and that perception has “triggered this crisis.” And yet the rest of the article demonstrates that he views this crisis through a feminist lens and is fully onboard with the creed that “The Future is Female.” Though he does not describe himself as such in his article, he is clearly a male feminist.
A male feminist is a man who would define himself as an ally of women against what they believe to be the systemic sexism, rampant misogyny, and patriarchal oppression of contemporary America. In truth, he is someone who has bought into a false cultural Marxist ideology that is waging war against the very definitions of “male” and “female” in order to abolish the nuclear family, just as Karl Marx explicitly called for. The male feminist believes, as Marx did, that the nuclear family is patriarchal slavery for women and children, and that they – and the husbands and fathers oppressing them – can only be liberated by dismantling the patriarchy, the family, and masculinity itself. The whole damn system is guilty as hell, as the protest slogan goes, and has to burn.
A male feminist embraces the standard feminist assumptions about the sexes: that traditional masculinity is a toxic, vengeful, misogynist, petty, controlling, and violent social construct; and that conversely, women are the opposite of all these things. He also accepts unquestioningly that in America today something called “the patriarchy” rules and oppresses women; in fact, patriarchy in America is no more real than systemic racism. And the self-loathing male feminist also faults men for all the problems and conflicts in society; women, by contrast, are the solution.
Despite the fact that there is no historical evidence of a society dominated by women, the male feminist nevertheless believes there was a time in the distant, misty past when societies were matriarchal and there was less conflict between people, and between people and the natural order. Cotton claims that “a very long time ago,” before the “great overthrow” – i.e., the beginning of Western civilization – men who were jealous of women’s spiritual authority decided to arrogate absolute power for themselves and “launch the patriarchy.” He says the virulent misogyny of the “Abrahamic religions” recast women into subservient roles, and men have clung jealously and brutally to their patriarchal power ever since.
Cotton argues that men suffer from a “frustrated” sense of “birthright” that “lives on in the male subconscious” and that is threatened by women surpassing them in various arenas. He argues that masculinity is rooted in a toxic, ego-driven competition and aggression that have made a bloody mess of the world, and that it’s time for men to step aside, let women take over, and let them set the world aright.
“The end of patriarchy,” Cotton assures men, “is not a victory for women and a defeat for men, it turns out, but an opening for all of us. It provides an opportunity for deep fulfillment, for an emotional richness unimaginable to our grandfathers.” In fact, “The era of post-patriarchy might offer the best hope for the future of our species.”
But there is an evil obstacle to this “female ascendancy”: Donald Trump and the MAGA movement, which he describes as “a desperate attempt to recover the supposed lost birthright of men and restore a perceived rightful power.” He believes that insecure MAGA men are guilty of “American far-right terrorism,” which he does not define except to say that it is “first and foremost a misogynist phenomenon. We see it online in the sickening, violent, sexualized hate directed at women who have power or who merely speak up for themselves.”
He offers no examples of this supposed MAGA hate for women, but presumably he is referring to Right-wing opposition to Kamala Harris. I’m a Right-winger, and I can assure Mr. Cotton that our complaints about the Democrat presidential candidate have nothing to do with her sex but with her far-Left agenda, epic incompetence, race-baiting, lies, and total absence of gravitas and authority. I am unaware of a single serious conservative commentator who has expressed “hatred” of her at all, much less because she’s a woman.
Cotton adds that “[t]here is a special fury among the extreme right directed at white women who are not at home having babies.” He does not define “extreme right,” nor does he give an example of this “special fury.” This is just ugly, bigoted nonsense; I would wager that he lives, as I once did, in a narrowly circumscribed progressive bubble and does not personally know a single conservative. He has simply absorbed the demonized stereotype of conservative men that is relentlessly promoted by his Party’s propagandists.
(If feminist ally Cotton wants to see real-world examples of hateful misogyny, he can look at what his own Party is doing to women by supporting the trans agenda and erasing women’s private spaces and women’s sports.)
Cotton concludes his Salon article by asserting oddly that Kamala’s running mate Tim Walz has a “classic middle-American dad vibe” which “infuriates” and “drives MAGA men nuts.” Again, he cites no examples. I know many, many conservative men and I feel confident speaking for all of them when I say not one of us is infuriated or driven nuts by Walz’s purported manliness. Not one of us feels threatened or exasperated by his so-called 21st century masculinity. What we are concerned about is the same thing that concerns us about Kamala Harris: their radical, totalitarian designs on America.
Male feminists like Christopher Cotton are in the ideological grip of a Marxist delusion about human nature and society. They are not allies for women in a struggle against hateful oppression; instead, they are facilitating an agenda designed to tear women away from the meaningful bonds of family, and to consign them to slavery to an all-powerful State.

You know what drives me nuts about Walz? What drives me nuts about him is that he’s a far Leftist fool and possibly a knowing and certainly, at the very least, an unknowing, CCP agent of influence running for Vice-President. And our corporate media is silent about it. That drives me nuts.
Who cares what the corporate media does? They are in a closed bubble that is getting smaller and smaller.
A great many people still get their news from them whether they trust them or not. If, for instance, they don’t hear about Walt’s extensive Chinese contacts and his radical appointments and policies there, they don’t hear about them at all. So I very much care that they are such politically motivated garbage. In fact, I would say they are the biggest problem our country faces.
For what it’s worth, I live in California and have never heard of the guy until he was anointed as Harris’s running mate. That says everything I need to know about him.
How and why? Because politics in California is about as far left as it get. If he’s her running mate then he’s just as far left if not further than she is. It’s that birds of a feather thing.

I know from having kids at university, no matter whether it’s math, science, art, business, law or medicine, 40% of the teaching is about how unfair it is to women, minorities and the queer. Another 40% is about climate change, 10% is about how these things are caused by white, conservative men and Jews. The remaining 10% is about how important it is to terminate your baby if you should ever become pregnant. In addition, I learned that asians are white, unless they are queer or female(even though women cannot be readily identified, as there are no defining characteristics). It’s statistically insignificant, but there is also instruction on how dumb your parents are, especially if they never went to college.
My parents were the salt of the earth types who never went to college but were endowed with a plethora of common.
Implicit in your last few words is a seeming contempt for none college educated people. That’s unfortunate. That mindset is the hallmark of someone who is over-educated. lacks perspective and possesses a dearth of common sense and practical sense.
Such a person has no regard for the non-college educated people who make the world go round. You know, the people who built the infrastructure and keep things running and make it possible for all of use to go about our daily lives in relative comfort. Those types.
A college education does not impart common sense or practical sense. I know plenty of people who are college graduates who lack common and practical sense. They’re smart in whatever their degree is in but are demonstrably dumb in things that matters more and the most. Bottom line: a college education/degree is over-rated. More so today than in yesteryears.

My parents never went to college but I’m a college educated engineer (retired) with 36+ years in R &D. I have deep admiration and respect for carpenters, plumbers, brick masons, drywallers, welders, electricians auto mechanics, seamstresses, grocery store clerks, bus drivers, airline pilots, dock workers, boat crews, etc., etc. Why? Because those are consequential jobs/professions that matters the most to the majority of people on this planet.

That’s not my perception so let’s just cordially disagree on that. By the way, I don’t think much of public school teachers since most of them barely graduated from college and I have little to no respect for college professors outside of the STEM fields. (I’m an engineer so of course I’m biased!)

Just FYI, I never went to college. USMC for me. My kids went but didn’t buy into all the commie bullshit and stayed relatively normal. Honestly, it took a few months of deprogramming and living in reality to get back to a normal level of logic and critical thinking. They had to write papers from a lefty perspective in order to get good grades. I did pay for it though so maybe I am the retard lol.

I meet very few male feminists in my travels but I know one when I see one. The most obvious at this time are the Doug Emhoff and Tim Walz types. These two soyboys are cringe to the max. On our side of the aisle are the Mittens Romney types. Truly weak men.

All the feminists I know are ex-feminists who now regret becoming a feminist in their younger years. They’re now in the 50s and 60s and single, childless and wish they had a man in their life.

I have a sister who was once upon a time a hardcore feminist. Now she’s in her early 60s, cries a lot and always on the verge of a mental breakdown. She never considered the consequences of being a feminist until she was in her late 40s early 50s.
I pity women like that but I don’t understand why they don’t get boyfriends. I know a 62 years old, 63 years old and 66 years old who all have a 60 years old boyfriend – me. Most are in their 30s and 40s but fifties and sixties isn’t so bad. I won’t go past 66, though and the only reason I went that high was because I found out too late.
You should tell your friends to get out there or just accept men’s advances, unless the guys are ugly.

The meaningful bonds of family?

I hesitate to wade in here because, although I am a great proponent of the individual, I’m not familiar with the individual personalities that seem to be involved here! What I wonder is this: if it’s not possible to both celebrate the difference between the sexes in a vive la difference kind of way without discounting or disparaging one or the other.
On a personal level, I will say that any number of highly intelligent AND high achieving men CAN be pretty obnoxious and full of themselves—especially when they pontificate because THEY know it ALL.. In the cases where someone brilliant also expresses humility, it IS very endearing!
But God help us if we lose all our “tough” guys. And if the kind of man I’m thinking of—who IS the Protector of women and children, whenever there’s a real existential threat—is crushed by all the Marxist supremacy and stupidity currently being pushed in all our institutions. The long and short of it is he is an effete intellectual snob. He has an opinion on everything and loves the sound of his own writing. Hates religion and God. He has a particular hatred of Catholics and Lutherans. In short, he is an atheist Objectivist and loves insulting us, particularly during the holidays. He believes I am a “brute and a bully” which is fine by me. He has been taken to task by Greenfield more than once but is unfazed by anyone’s criticism.
I keep at him by not allowing the field to him unchallenged. His atheism and arrogance undermines this country. He is anything but an individual. We were not founded as an atheist society.

Almost 50 years ago in 1975, Ms magazine devoted an issue to men and included an article by “male feminist” Alan Alda (who is of course not a doctor, although he played one on TV). He theorized men behave differently than women (that is, WORSE) because of an excess of testosterone. He popularized the misandric buzz word phrase “testosterone poisoning”. If Alda really believed that “testosterone poisoning” exists, why hasn’t he removed the source of his own “testosterone poisoning” in the intervening half century? Castration is safe under medical supervision, and he’d be unlikely to die of exsanguination or infection like a eunuch in the Sultan’s harem. The other thing that feminists never explain is that if testosterone levels are plummeting globally, why hasn’t this ushered in an era of peace and love?

Cotton’s claim that all of the Abrahamic religions are misogynistic is very broad brush. The Proverbs 31 woman may have been home-based – but she clearly wielded significant authority within her home. And Christian institutional misogyny largely dates from Constantine – Jesus was willing to listen to women and take them seriously, albeit that lack of female literacy amongst some Gentile Christians may have precluded a teaching role in places like Ephesus and Corinth.
It is important to expose the falseness of much of the Marxist narrative, because this in itself is a significant contribution to restoring the undercut role of men, since it identifies role models who would be delegitimised by a Marxist reading of history.
I have observation based evidence about women and girls going all the way to Jr. High School 60 years ago, and have worked for women dominated organizations as an adult on several occasions. I have learned that there is no one more toxic, vengeful, misogynist, petty, and controlling than jealous, envious women in their dealings with other women. Can no one remember the “mean girls”?

I was a Prof of Math and Computer Science to Undergrad, Masters, and Phd students for about 40 years at flagship state U’s . I saw no major diffs in the intellectual ability of the middle 90% of the bell curve. The top 5% and the bottom 5% were predominantly male. Women were more diligent but men were more inventive and better at working on graduate research project WITHOUT day to day micro-management.
Tim Walz reminds of a 1980’s BBC comedy “The Young Ones.” There is a scene where an older bowler hat and suit wearing gentleman, declares himself a feminist. Todays comedy is tomorrows reality.
So how long before Salon joins the rest of the missing link media on the ash heap of history? You know once big, billion dollar concerns that had a bright and promising future, like Vox, or Vice, or Buzzfeed. Does anyone take Salon seriously anymore other then New York residing trust fund brats?

I read an interesting book that proposed one of the most matriarchal societies in the ancient world were the Spartans. Regardless, somehow this great overthrow happened globally, in every culture. Nonsense. These are, after all, the same people that claim evolution and biological differences have nothing to do with anything. And they completely ignore that the civilization they hate the most, has had more women leaders than all the rest in recorded history, combined.
