Don’t worry too much about the fired feds. Even if they don’t get to be feds anymore, there’s lots of local big government eager to hire them.
Governors around the country are putting up “We’re hiring” signs for fired federal workers.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, launched a recruiting effort this week, dubbed the “You’re Hired” initiative, specifically targeting federal workers who have lost their jobs as a result of DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts. Her office has assembled a job board of open New York state positions.
“The federal government might say, ‘You’re fired,’ but here in New York, we say, ‘You’re hired,’” Hochul said in a Tuesday video announcing the initiative. “We love federal workers. Whatever your skills, we value public service.”
New York State is forecasted to have a nearly $14 billion deficit. Its tax base is fleeing as budgets are rising.
And the one thing New York doesn’t have is enough government employees.
In New York, 16.4% of the workforce are employed by the government — either at the state, local, or federal level — the 24th highest share of all states. In keeping with the national trend, the number of government workers in New York has decreased in recent years. There are currently 1,443,500 public sector workers in the state, down 4.5% from 2010.
1.4 million government employees. That’s more than the populations of Vermont and Wyoming put together.

in commie china, everyone has a job. I was there for quite a while and saw little pudgy old ladies with specially long handled brush/mop things (10 feet long or so) walking along, by themselves, miles and miles from anywhere, dusting road signs.
Another recollection: a job site was needed unglazed paving tiles but were delivered unsuitable glazed tiles. A swam of workers like ants sat cross legged (quite lazily) smoking cigs and talking while they “tap, tap, tap” the glaze off the unsuitable tiles and made stacks of now-good tiles.
Everyone has a job.
Spot on. The various types of government employ the virtually unemployable. They sit around and do nothing productive and collect a paycheck at the end of the week. This mostly keeps them off the streets and keeps the unemployment rate low. We pay for the deadbeats either way.

It’s all about handing out money in order to get rusted on leftard voting.
The two segments of the voting population that will always vote left because the left keeps throwing money at them are government employees and welfare parasites.
So leftard governments work hard, the only time they do, at making more of both.
I guess the Ho-Cthulhu can put up all those former government “workers” in luxury hotels with the illegal aliens.

But, those people relocating should consider that the Hochul will most likely NOT be the Governor much longer and the NEW person might have the same mindset that WASTE and CORRUPTION are not “good things”!
There’s an old saying about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Ms. Governor probably never heard that one nor realized what it means!
AND, what does this say about those NY’ers who have applied for those jobs? WHY didn’t YOU get a job? Could you be the wrong melaninized? The wrong VOTING history? Might be worth asking!
Good jobs for them life cleaning up the Litter on the Highways and Byways since their so good at dealing out the Rubbish then they should clean it all up
It appears there’s a mass hallucination among Democrats that can only be called chronic. A hallucination that prevents them from seeing the massive debt they’re accumulating, or they believe there is no debt, so they can spend, spend, spend all they like with no adverse consequences. . And they don’t think that’s insane….. Remarkable!

Former unnecessary federal employees are being “hired” by Democ-rat state governments for the sole purpose of providing them with middle-class salaries through made-work “jobs.” This is Bill Clinton’s 1990s “workfare”– welfare checks connected to made-work jobs– on steroids! We’re on the way to Democ-rat utopia: A nation of welfare recipients.
What’s another $35 trillion? Life’s a party when you never have to pay your bills.
There won’t be one Republican voter among them. This is the simple minded way of retaining leftist power in NY forever.
An interesting way to address state unemployment. Import more people to work existing or newly created jobs. As far as their governor is concerned, it sucks to be you if you’re already a resident and unemployed, NY is tied for the 13th worst unemployment by state. (Flyover state S. Dakota has the best unemployment rate.)
