As the Trump administration makes the lightest of cuts to what has long since become a wasteland of worthless DEI sociology papers posing as ‘scientific research’, the industrial PhD complex is going mad.
‘People will die based on these decisions’: Trump administration cuts funding for dozens of HIV studies – CNN
People will die! Oh my!
Based on this alarmist headline, you would think that the Trump administration is cutting funding for medical research trying to find a cure or something genuinely useful in the medical field.
But, of course not, this is all DEI sociology nonsense.
At the end of last week, Dr. Colleen Kelley said she was getting texts about every 10 minutes from colleagues whose HIV-related research grants were being terminated by the federal government.
“This is just pure chaos and insanity,” said Kelley, chair of the HIV Medicine Association. The National Institutes of Health canceled two grants last week for HIV projects she was working on, as well as funding for a large HIV clinical trial network she was involved with.
“It’s just a massive, massive bloodbath,” Kelley said.
Bloodbath! Chaos and insanity! Let’s see what’s actually being cut.
Over $1 million for ‘ SILOS: Structural Inequities across Layers Of Social-Context as Drivers of HIV and Substance Use’
Over $1 million for ‘Measures of structural stigmatization and discrimination for HIV research with Latine sexual and gender minorities’
Over $100,000 for ‘Monitoring Microaggressions and Adversities to Generate Interventions for Change (MMAGIC) for Black Women Living with HIV’
Over $250,000 for “Culturally-focused HIV Advancements through the Next Generation for Equity (CHANGE) Training Program”.
This is DEI. Not medical research. Money wasted on this garbage is not being used to fund actual medical research that might help people.
“The termination of numerous federal grants for HIV prevention and treatment is a cause for alarm,” Dr. Perry Halkitis, dean and Hunterdon Professor of Public Health & Health Equity at Rutgers University, wrote in an email to CNN. The NIH canceled funds for a Rutgers project examining stigma and aging among HIV-positive and -negative men who have sex with men.
“HIV remains a significant public health challenge throughout the nation, particularly for sexual and gender minority individuals and people of color,” Halkitis wrote. “As a public health dean, HIV researcher for over two decades, and proud gay man, I am deeply concerned about the impacts these grant eliminations will have on our ability to end AIDS.”
How will we possibly end AIDS… without a project “examining stigma and aging” among gay men with HIV.
How does this end AIDS? It doesn’t. It sucks up money.
The NIH told Dr. Lisa Bowleg, a professor of applied social psychology in George Washington University’s Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, that her funding was canceled for a project that sought to examine the dynamics of intersectional discrimination and social structural factors to understand Black men’s risk for mental health and substance abuse issues. The work also touched on HIV.
“As for the HIV piece, it is disturbing that more than four decades into the HIV epidemic, Black gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (and also Black heterosexual women, by the way) continue to have disproportionately higher HIV incidence and prevalence compared with white and other racial/ethnic groups in the U.S.,” Bowleg wrote in an email. “Terminating the research does not result in a termination of the problem; it simply exacerbates it.”
How does Ms. Bowleg’s research end the problem? Calling HIV racist? Here’s the study.
“Ending the HIV epidemic for all, not just some: structural racism as a fundamental but overlooked social-structural determinant of the US HIV epidemic”
Recent findings: In line with growing mainstream attention to the role of structural racism and health inequities, recent editorials and studies cite ending structural racism as an essential step to ending the US HIV epidemic. Recent studies demonstrate that barriers rooted in structural racism such as incarceration, housing instability, police discrimination, neighborhood disadvantage, health service utilization and community violence, and poor or no access to social services, transportation, and childcare, are barriers to HIV prevention.
We need to end capitalism, fundamentally transform society and create a leftist tyranny to end problem X. Where X is any variable, but in this case it’s HIV.
This isn’t even research, it’s agitprop with statistical charts. And everyone, including those with HIV, are better off without it.
43 years of the AIDS epidemic and it’s the same demographic groups getting it.
And no, Magic Johnson didn’t get infected from a woman but it’s a convenient cover story.
This is sort of ridiculous since it’s well understood what kinds of people are susceptible to getting HIV. Why should the American tax payers get stuck with the burden of paying for this? Most “normal” people who don’t go around acting like wild dogs in heat have little to no chance of getting HIV.
Perhaps some of those research universities should spend down some of their multi-billion dollar endowments and pay for the research the, selves. They can afford it. Besides, we all know that the government will just “backdoor” money to them to replenish their coffers (and grift a little off the top but I digress.)
Not all Americans are ignorant and stupid and are astute enough to know that those universities game the system along with their deep state accomplices. DOGE has already exposed the extent to which the deep state ceaselessly fleeces the American tax payers.
The Liberal PHD stands for “Perverse Haughty Drama”.
We know what causes it. Now focus on curing it. That’s the only research that needs to be done.
I need a fresher headline, so I’ll post this here. About the Kennedy assassination. Oswald was too poor a shot to do what he did, right? One hit was all that was needed, right? Then why were the “real” gunmen poorer shots than Oswald was said to be? Based on these multiple shooter claims, all of the superior marksmen could not hit the broadside of a barn. They are worse marksmen than Oswald!
I tried this one with an Andrew Klavan video at YouTube. Predictably, no one was impressed.
Except for one guy who said, no, that is not a hard shot to make. Most Marines could make that shot. They just can’t accept Oswald could too. They also said that Oswald was spotted at a gun range the week before he shot Kennedy. And he was a loser. Another thing they can not accept about Oswald. Losers who are angry and bitter are often good shooters because they practice a lot.
HIV “Epidemic?” What, is it the 1980s, or something? Don’t take it up the ass, gaylords. Easy cure. AIDS. Anally Injected Death Sentence?
Drugs cured AIDS decades ago, whiners. You can bend over all day long and it won’t matter.
Wooooo!!! Outstanding!! I’m problem the only person here who agrees with you 100% Anally Injected Death Sentence!! Mind if I steal that from you?
No. Steal it.
It was a punk rock song back in the day. “M.O.D.” “Masters Of Destruction.” or maybe “Death And Pure destruction.” DAPD. I think that was a real name of a band. Or “Multi Death Corporation, which initialism had several definitions to those punks.
Punk rock sucked but the bands had funny names and song titles. “The Dead Kennedys,” “Fear,” “Black Flag,” “The Vandals,” “Agent Orange,” “The Damned,” “Bad Religion,” “Social Distotion,””Circle Jerks,” and funny shit like that. The Dead Kennedy’s had a song called “Holiday in Cambodia”that was actually good and “Fear” had one called “Have a Beer with Fear, complete with a fake soundtrack of them digging to the bottom of an ice chest for a beer Bottle. “Lee Ving” even had a role in the American classic movie, Streets of Fire” with Michael Paré and a young Willem DaFoe.
I saw some of those bands back in the 80s and the chicks put out. I think a lot of those guys were Orange County rockers who couldn’t make it in that genre so pretended to be punks.
Yeah, even some of the Punk Rockers came up with good songs now and then. There were several from The Clash that I liked 🙂
There was a NYC punk band called Rumpleforeskin in the late 70s. The Butthole Surfers had some good songs, and “Electric Larryland,” was just insert and hit play good.
The Wreck Room in Atlanta had chicken wire between the audience and the band, and a lot of punk bands played there. Saw Rockin’ Bones there, and The Indigo Girls were also playing that night. They were a pop Go-Gos type band then. Went to HS with Emily and Amy. Emily was cool, but amy was a bitter leftist bitch even then. I made her storm off in a huff several times, and she hated my guts, lol.
Microaggressions. One of the worst ideas ever.
But very telling. Things are going great if you have to invent microaggressions to be offended. I grew up dealing with real aggressions, so I find the idea amusing.
Thanks for shedding some light on what these cancelled projects really entail. The MSM will not even try to shed light on what’s really going on – they just want to fan hatred of Trump and Musk, probably hoping to trigger more violence.
The most preventable disease in the history of mankind and somehow it’s widespread for a tiny subsection of people. I’m afraid we’ll need billions more in research to figure this one out.
The method of prevention is to stay seated and keep your mouth shut.
I wish there were a cure for TDS.
